Middlesbrough-based Riverside Bakery was sold to a local business man last week, saving 35 jobs.
It will now trade as Tees Valley Bakery. “The new owner is very enthusiastic and has some exciting plans to build on the potential and grow the business," said bakery manager Chris Timney. "The management team has an excellent business pedigree and, after a difficult month, everyone is now very excited by the future.”
Joint administrators from Baker Tilly, Mark Ranson and Alec Pillmoor, were appointed in October.
Commenting on the sale, Mark Ranson, restructuring and recovery partner at Baker Tilly’s Newcastle office, said: “We are obviously delighted to secure a positive outcome for Riverside Bakery and its staff. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank employees, customers and suppliers for their support over the last month.”
The wholesale baker of bread buns for schools, colleges, sandwich shops and other food retailers was established over 25 years ago.
