Ultimate Foods has announced proposals to close its sandwich production factory in Devizes, Wiltshire, having acquired the site in January after the previous owner went into administration.

A 30-day consultation period has begun at the factory, which could result in the loss of up to 100 jobs. The company refused to comment.

Earlier in the year, insolvency practitioners Wilson Field confirmed that the site, previously owned by Gibsons Foods, had been taken over by Ultimate Foods. The move saved 100 jobs, which are now in question.

It was thought that the site, when owned by Gibsons Foods, ran into difficulties after losing supply contracts.
