Paul Morrow, md of British Bakels - ingredients suppliers to the baking industry - is to relinquish the post in the second half of 2008 to assume global management responsibilities with the Bakels Group.Morrow has been appointed a full-time member of the executive committee of EMU, the holding company of the Bakels Group worldwide.
He will be one of a team of just two people which controls the group worldwide. He joins Armin Ulrich, chairman of the Bakels Group of Companies, following the retirement of long serving group executive committee member New Zealander Duncan Looney at the end of 2008.
Announcing Morrow’s appointment, Ulrich said: “Paul’s promotion is a reflection of the hard work and success of British Bakels as a company. Despite the fact that the UK baking market is highly competitive, British Bakels is a huge success story.”
“During Paul’s 14 years at the helm, British Bakels’ turnover has virtually trebled and he has overseen investment of some £12M following the relocation of the company to Bicester in 1996. That experience will be invaluable to the group worldwide as we continue our ambitious expansion plans.”
