One trend that certainly seems to be catching on is celebrity chef-endorsement.

Launched by food firm Brand Partnership under the Ainsley Harriott brand, cous cous is the latest product to receive the thumbs up from a TV favourite.

Md Tim Robertshaw said: "Plain cous cous is still relatively new to consumers, but the Ainsley Harriott brand is giving an increasing number of shoppers the confidence to try it. Sales figures show that Ainsley Harriott cous cous continues to drive the market forward."

Southwest brewery Sharp's has taken endorsement one step further by working on a project with celebrity chef Rick Stein to create new beer Chalky's Bite (named after Stein's dog Chalky).

The Belgium style beer is subtly flavoured with Cornish fennel, Cornish malted barley and three different hops.
