The widespread management reshuffle at Morrisons has been the most significant activity at the retailer since David Potts took over in March, according to an exclusive poll on this website.

A whopping 68% of respondents to a survey on FoodManufacture.co.uk said the fact 70% of Morrisons’ management board had left since Potts started his role was the most important thing to have happened in his first month in charge.

The new leader revealed at the end of March plans to cut 20 senior managers from Morrisons in a bid to create a leaner business.

Management shake-up

He unveiled his first management shake-up, when he announced five top executives would leave the company.

The departing board members were group customer marketing and digital director Nick Collard, group retail director Martyn Fletcher, group property and strategy director Gordon Mowat, group logistics director Neal Austin and convenience md Nigel Robertson.

Group trading director Casper Meijer was the most recent boss to check out of the retailer on April 13.

City analysts Clive Black and Darren Shirley of Shore Capital said Potts was imposing his authority​ on a company where trading performance had not been good enough for some time.

We need to lose more area managers paid to much to come to stores and tell us what we already know
