Construction work on the new Alcohols Limited head office, distillery and distribution centre has been completed.

Based in Rugby, Warwickshire, Alcohols Limited is an independent gin distillery that produces, stores and distributes a range of alcohols, chemical solvents and hydrocarbon products to several business sectors.

Part of the Palmer Group, the family-run business supplies the core alcohol for more than 75% of British artisan gins, while its London Dry Gin is distilled using traditional copper pot stills that are more than 100 years old.

The multi-million-pound investment brings together the company’s head office, previously in Bishop’s Stortford, and its two divisions – the Langley Distillery in Birmingham and its storage and distribution facility in London. It site in Oldbury will be retained and will be focused on supporting innovation with an interactive visitor centre.

The building incorporates a new state-of-the-art distillery, process plant, head office and large span portal frame structure for storage and distribution.

Construction work was completed by Clegg Food Projects, a national designer and constructor of food manufacturing and distribution facilities with more than 40 years of experience in the sector.

Commenting on the completion of the new site, Oliver Jenkins, business development manager at Clegg Food Projects, said: “We are thrilled to have completed this project for Alcohols Limited. The design and concept were challenging as we needed to incorporate lots of moving parts to ensure the structure was feasible and offered the most practical use of space.

“We adapted to the changing brief, with our design and construction team participating in coordination meetings with the Alcohols team and their specialist suppliers and consultants. The construction sequence was continually updated and modified as the client finalised the details of the operations.

“The result is an ultra-modern facility with state-of-the-art technology that I know the whole team will be very proud to call their HQ.”
