Tray sealer raises spud packing productivity
The installation of a tray sealer at potato supplier Branston’s Lincoln factory has dramatically improved efficiency and reduced the cost of production.
The Revolution tray sealer from Packaging Automation (PA) features the company’s Powerdrive fully electric technology. Interpolated multi-axis robotic motion ensures a continuous flow of trays through the machine from infeed to outfeed. This eliminates any need for pauses or buffering and allows the throughput of up to 150 packs a minute.
The seal force on the Revolution tray sealer has been increased by 300% compared with other pneumatic systems. Furthermore, the novel technology used by PA allows the tool lift mechanism to be deactivated during the sealing process, therefore significantly reducing the energy used.
