The presence of Listeria monocytogenes has been found in The Curing Barn’s 60g packs of British Bresaola, an air-dried, salted beef that has been aged for two or three months; with product code, WLRC J1Z2 0WD0 J85J; and the use-by date of 10 June 2026.
L.monocytogenes can cause symptoms similar to the flu, including high temperature, muscle aches or pain, chills, nausea, and diarrhoea.
In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, leading to serious complications such as meningitis, which can be fatal.
Listeria infections can be particularly dangerous for certain vulnerable groups, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old, and people with weakened immune systems.
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product and on their website. Customers are advised to return the product in-store for a full refund. A receipt is not necessary.
The recall follows a similar incident involving Milton Keynes-based producer Gilbert’s, which was forced to recall its Turkey Breast Pastrami, a product widely sold across Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Tesco
