Flavour Swap will see some of the manufacturer’s biggest snacking brands paired together to create entirely new combinations and flavour profiles.
The line-up will include the following partnerships:
- Lay’s Sweet Southern Heat Barbecue on Cheetos Crunchy
- Ruffles Cheddar & Sour Cream on Doritos
- Doritos Cool Ranch on Ruffles
Grounded in consumer insights and what the US food and drink giant is calling ‘meticulous R&D’, Flavour Swap is the result of multiple combinations of flavours and brands to land on three new SKUs.
PepsiCo has enlisted the likes of pop star Madison Beer, popular sports YouTuber IShowSpeed and online comedy group Dude Perfect to help amplify the launch.
On the campaign, Beer said: “When I’m on tour, Cheetos is one of my go-to snacks. It was fun to be part of the new Flavor Swap.
“Sweet Southern Heat Barbeque on Cheetos Crunchy. It’s a little sweet, smoky and a bit spicy.”
The Dude Perfect crew added: “At Dude Perfect, we’ve always been huge fans of Ruffles, but our crew is a bit of a house divided. Some of us go all-in for Cool Ranch Doritos, while others are loyal to Ruffles through and through.
“For our stunt-loving crew, everything is about the unexpected, so teaming up with Ruffles for Doritos Cool Ranch on Ruffles just makes sense. This bold, tangy Cool Ranch flavour on that classic Ruffles crunch is as daring as our trick shots and the perfect snack for our group that lives for the game.”
Cheetos, Ruffles, and Doritos are each releasing special ‘Swap Drops’ on Instagram, giving select fans a chance to win a first taste of their Flavour Swap chips before they hit US shelves in mid-February.
The move follows on from a variety of NPDs released by PepsiCo brands over the festive period, including a limited edition ‘Gingerbread’ flavour of its flagship beverage.
