The recall warning concerns the London-based pet food brand’s 400g tins of the Pasta al Ragu Beef, Oregano & Basil Dog Food with a batch code 5212T9097F, can numbers 27018 to 50268, and an expiration date of July 31, 2027.
Tesco has issued the recall notice after pieces of plastic were found in the batch of Lily’s Kitchen cans, and has advised its customers not to feed them to their dogs.
The issue was reportedly traced to a single supplier of raw material, with whom Lily’s Kitchen has now severed contact.
Providing a range of dog and cat food, Lily’s Kitchen was acquired by Nestlé Purina PetCare in April 2020.
According to Lily’s Kitchen, its pet food selection is made from a variety of natural ingredients using “proper meat and offal” offering pets “complete nutrition.”
A spokesperson for the brand said: “Through undertaking a thorough investigation, we have established how this situation has arisen and traced it to one supplier of a raw material. We can confirm the risk is isolated to Pasta al Ragu cans with the above combined batch and can details, and Lily’s Kitchen is no longer working with the supplier.
“As a precaution, if you have an affected can, we ask you not to feed it to your pet(s) and instead contact Lily’s Kitchen.”
They added: “No other products are affected by this voluntary recall. However, if you’ve got any questions or concerns please contact us”
Customers have been advised to contact Lily’s Kitchen via phone on 0207 433 1863 or email hello@lilyskitchen.co.uk if they believe they have been affected.
Nestlé itself has been making negative headlines of late, and is dealing with a global recall of its own, affecting a batch of baby formula contaminated with bacteria producing the celeuride toxin.
