Co-op’s latest offering of its so-called “GLP-1 friendly” meals has been designed for people taking GLP 1 weight-loss medication, such as Ozempic or Wegovy.
Made to be nutrient-dense and high in protein and fibre, these meals work alongside prescribed weight-loss drugs to help manage appetite and slow digestion.
Set to be rolled out across the convenience retailer’s stores nationwide from 7 January, the ‘Good Fuel - Power Up Your Plate’ offering will contain four new mini meals designed specifically for the 3% of Brits now estimated to be using prescription weight-loss meds.
Crafted to help people ensure that they get the essential nutrients they need while eating less, Co-op’s new meals will each contain two of the recommended five daily fruit and veg and will be inspired by a range of global cuisines.
“Our members and customers are changing the way they approach health, looking for healthy and tasty choices that provide a boost of health benefits like protein and fibre, with meals that count towards their five-a-day as well as delivering plenty of flavour,” said Nicole Tallant, retail trading director at Co-op.
“There is also a growing need to cater for smaller appetites with meals that provide the quality without so much of the quantity. This whole new range is aimed at supporting shoppers’ wellbeing in a meaningful, accessible and convenient way.”
All priced at £3.50 each, the 250g mini-meals will include the following recipes: Butternut Squash, Beans and Grains; Chicken & Sweet Potato Penang Curry, Chicken & Courgette Alfredo Pasta, and Chicken Teriyaki Noodles.
The Good Fuel range will also feature a new “holistically” healthy range, featuring a choice of five meals with high-protein, slow-releasing carbohydrates, and added-benefit ingredients such as gut-friendly fibres, and nutrient-dense vegetables, priced at £4.25 each.
