Boparan Holdings, the parent company of 2 Sisters Food Group, has announced changes to its non-executive board of directors.

Ian Ellis has stepped down from his non-executive director and chair of audit committee duties, following five years in the role.

Mark Doleman, formerly audit partner at Deloitte for 20 years, has joined the board as a non-executive director and will chair the audit committee among other board duties.

He brings more than 30 years’ experience in audit, risk and governance spanning PLCs, large private groups and private equity backed businesses. A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, he has also served as a non-executive director for several privately owned businesses since retiring from Deloitte.

Richard Pennycook, chairman of Boparan Holdings, said: “I would like to thank Ian for his contribution and commitment over the past five years and wish him well in his future endeavours.

“We also welcome Mark, who has a long career in audit, risk and governance and we are very pleased to have him join the BHL Board.”

In October, 2 Sisters Food Group revealed that Ian Fletcher had taken over the leadership of its Meal Solutions business, which makes a wide range of high-quality ready meals, pizzas, soups, sauces and bakery products for leading retailers, including M&S and Co-op.

Fletcher joined 2 Sisters in 2023, bringing a wealth of UK and international food manufacturing, operations and retail experience, including senior leadership roles at Amazon, Tesco, Samworth Brothers and Cargill.

Meanwhile, 2 Sisters Food Group’s food systems and sustainability director, Jude Irons, recently attended the IGD Future of Food Event. She discussed the journey of 2 Sisters in supporting Alliance Food Sourcing (AFS) and the Coronation Food Project.

Irons said: “When Ranjit Singh, President BHL, was approached to get involved with the AFS, he saw it as an opportunity to give back. By donating surplus food, 2 Sisters are not only helping others but also encouraging businesses to rethink their waste streams and respond to seasonal fluctuations in demand.

“Every food manufacturer, regardless of size, has waste ingredients or finished products and there are times when spare production capacity can be put to good use. The excess can be redirected to support those who might otherwise face difficult choices to feed themselves or their families.”
