Unite the union, which represents over 150 meat packers, trimmers, distribution, kill line and boning workers, at the Northern Ireland factory, said they have “voted overwhelmingly” to take strike action.
Unite said it is seeking a fair pay increase for its members who are paid a piece rate, where they receive their pay by the number of pieces of work they complete.
According to Unite, ABP has offered the meat plant staff a 3% increase with a one-off cash payment of £100 and 3% from April 2026.
Unite said this would amount to “a real terms” pay cut.
It said it has been notified to ABP that all-out strike action by the workers will commence from 00.01am on Monday 27 October.
Unite said this would impact on supply and see shortages in beef and lamb on the shelves of many supermarkets.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “ABP’s success has been built by workers. The company can well afford to pay a decent pay increase but instead is choosing to squeeze our members’ living standards to maximise profits
“The ABP workers at Craigavon can count on Unite’s full support in their fight for fair pay.”
Regional officer Sean Smyth added: “If ABP management wants to avoid severe disruption of their Craigavon plant, they need to return to the negotiating table and agree a fair deal for members.”
ABP have been approached for comment.
Recently, Unite the Union has officially been recognised as the trade union representative of the workers at a cold storage warehousing storage company Lineage.
In January, Princes reached an agreement with GMB Union that will see the trade union’s members in the UK receive a 3% pay rise.
