Boparan Restaurant Group has announced plans to open numerous new Slim Chickens and Giraffe sites.

The group, which is owned by 2 Sisters Food Group founder Ranjit Singh Boparan, said that it intends to open 50 Slim Chickens sites in the UK in 2026 alone. This includes three new drive-thrus in Sheffield, Teesside and Chester which will open in the first quarter of the year.

On top of that, Boparan Restaurant Group plans to open 30 new Giraffe locations around the world over the next four years.

Boparan Restaurant Group currently operates close to 75 Slim Chickens sites in the UK, and said it has spent the past 18 months laying the groundwork for the expansion.

It added that the Giraffe brand has “continued to thrive in the international travel sector”.

“With a strong airport presence already established, the next phase of growth includes imminent openings in Tenerife and Edinburgh, followed by an ambitious pipeline of 30 new global sites over the next four years,” the group said.

“Working alongside leading international airport partners, Giraffe is extending its reach and cementing its position as a trusted global name in travel dining, bringing vibrant, family-friendly experiences to millions of passengers worldwide.”

Elsewhere, Honest Burgers has acquired 12 Gourmet Burger Kitchen sites from Boparan Restaurant Group for an undisclosed sum.

Commenting on the deal, Boparan Restaurant Group people director Martin Owen said: “This is a strategic opportunity for GBK which allows us to focus on our core growth area of delivery.

“Selecting who we sold the sites to was a vital part of this process. We needed to ensure that they had the right values and would do the right thing by our amazing colleagues. We thank our colleagues for their exceptional commitment and contribution to the brand.”

Thomas Kelly, chair of the Honest Burgers board, added: “This acquisition is an important step in our strategic plan to quadruple the size of our business over the next five years. We’re excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity this brings.”
