The employee-owned firm announced the news with a post on LinkedIn this week, describing the 113,000 square foot facility as the first new cash and carry to open in the region for 25 years.
Parfetts added that the new depot would help fuel the next phase of growth for the business. The level of investment into the depot was not disclosed.
“Southampton depot is open,” the post read.
“Welcome to all of our new retailers and our amazing supplier partners! At 113,000 sq ft, it’s the first new cash & carry in the region for 25 years – a huge milestone for us, for independent retail in the south."
The post then explained how the wholesaler’s employee-owned model was a driver for the project.
“Being employee owned means we have a unique model where profits are reinvested to benefit our people, our suppliers and, most importantly, our retailers,” it said.
“That’s what drives the passion behind our service and the strength of our support.”
Based in Stockport, Parfetts has a turnover of £700 million and nine depots across the country. It offers 7,500 product lines and employs 1,000 people.
Meanwhile, Parfetts operates a symbol group consisting of 1,500 stores and fascias including Shop & Go, Go Local, Go Local Extra and The Local.
“Southampton strengthens our national footprint, serving retailers across the South Coast and Greater London with great value, strong promotions and award-winning service, powered by our employee ownership culture,” the LinkedIn post continued.
“A massive thank you to our suppliers and loyal retailers for helping us make this happen. Together, we’re building a wholesale model that puts people first and helps independents thrive in a challenging economy.”
Last month, Parfetts was named an industry leader in the 2025 Lumina Symbol Wholesale Index, with the annual benchmarking study conducted between May and July 2025.
