Tesco is recalling certain packs of an own brand chicken stir fry product because they contain undeclared egg and mustard.

The issue relates to sauce sachets (which are included with the product) that contain egg and mustard. However, the presence of these allergens is not mentioned on the label.

Only 650g packs of ‘Tesco Stir Fry Tikka Chicken’ with a 7 September 2025 use by date are impacted by the error and should not be consumed by anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg or mustard.

Tesco has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall, while it is displaying recall notices in all stores which sell the product.

The notices advise anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg or mustard that has purchased the product not to consume it and to return it for a full refund. Customers can also contact Tesco directly with any questions.

“No other Tesco products are affected by this recall,” the retailer said.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Meanwhile, McCormack Family Farms is recalling more spinach and mixed leave products sold in Northern Ireland because they have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall was first announced in August but has been extended to include additional products and batches.

Consumers have now been alerted to 500g packs of ‘McCormack Family Farms Mixed Baby Leaves’ with a JD237 batch code and 1 September 2025 best before date and 250g packs of ‘McCormack Family Farms Irish Spinach Leaves’ with a 3 September 2025 or 4 September 2025 best before date and any batch code.

Symptoms caused by ingesting food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Anyone that has purchased one of the products mentioned above should not consume it and return it for a full refund to there store where it was purchased.
