Mustaine founded the beer brand Megadeth Beer Co in advance of the band’s final studio album and upcoming farewell tour, with the Rattlehead range featuring a pilsner, IPA and low-alcohol IPA.
The Rattlehead beer range:
- Pilsner (4.0%) – A bright, golden lager brewed with British hops. Clean and refreshing with subtle malt sweetness.
- IPA (4.5%) – A hazy IPA with tropical fruit and citrus aromas. A Gold Award-winning flavour profile.
- IPA Zero (0.5%) – A non-alcoholic IPA, crisp and refreshing.
The range is exclusively available in the UK via the Megadeth Beer Co website and Amazon, while plans are in place to expand into the retail and export markets.
The beer has been made in collaboration with Black Sheep Brewery, which brewed the beers at its site in the UK. The beers were crafted by Black Sheep head brewer Dan Scott Paul, who aimed to create “bold flavours” that stand out from the crowd.
“Black Sheep embodies that spirit of individuality, just like Megadeth,” Mustaine said.
Meanwhile, off-trade business unit director at Black Sheep owner Keystone Brewing Group, Craig Brackett, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Dave Mustaine on the creation and launch of the Rattlehead brand. There is a hum of excitement, it brings together two forces from very different worlds but who are absolutely aligned in the passion for their craft.”
Black Sheep was acquired by BREAL Group, which has since been rebadged as Keystone Brewing Group, for £5 million in 2023. The group also owns Purity Brewing Co, Brick Brewery and Brew by Numbers.
