Crosta Mollica is launching a new chilled pizza range under the name Collezione Romana.

The range will launch from 1 September 2025 in Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsburys, with each of the three pizzas developed as part of Collezione Romana featuring a larger 32cm base.

Each of the Portofino, Bosco Di Alba and Bolzano pizzas are made using Italian milled type ‘0’ flour and the lievito madre (or mother yeast) before proving the dough for 24 hours.

The Portofino is branded as the best version of a margherita you can find in the supermarket’ and is made with Mozzarella Di Bufala and Fior di Latte, while the Bosco Di Alba is made with truffles, grilled mushrooms and a roasted garlic crema sauce. Finally, the Bolzano features spiced sausage, red onion and rosemary.

Alongside the new range, Crosta Mollica is introducing a new ‘Pizzelle Dough Bites’ product in three flavours – garlic and chive, speck and ricotta, and tomato and olive. The dough bites will be sold in the chilled format at Sainsbury’s and Tesco, and frozen at Ocado, with a box of 11 set to retail at £3.50.

Commenting on the new Collezione Romana range, marketing director at Crosta Mollica, Dean Lavender, said that it was developed to deliver the “best at-home pizza experience you can have”.

“When you order a pizza from your local pizzeria, the at-home experience never lives up to what you can enjoy in the restaurant,” Lavender explained.

“The pizza goes cold and soggy. The toppings have slipped around in the box. It’s always slightly below-par. Collezione Romana, however, will be hot and fresh out of the oven in less time than in takes to get a pizza delivered. The best ingredients combined with the freshness will be truly special. And, of course, it comes in at a much lower price point than takeaway.”

On the new dough bites, Lavender added: “Our Pizzelle Dough Bites introduces British consumers to a genuinely Italian product they’ve never experienced in this way before. More often than not, doughballs are bland, dry and dull. It’s no surprise 75% of pizza shoppers steer clear of them. Instead, our Pizzelle will offer a product which not only tastes fantastic and can be joyfully served alongside pizza but also on its own to inspire and be part of other mealtime occasions.”

Meanwhile, Crosta Mollica chair David Milner described the launch of the Collezione Romana range as an evolution for the brand.

“We love our core range, but we wanted to create an even more premium option for our discerning pizza fans,” Milner said.

“This isn’t about gimmick toppings, passing trends or simply jumping on the bandwagon to grab five minutes in the spotlight, but bringing a new yet still very real Italian pizza experience to people’s homes.

“We will continue to elevate and innovate for those who are seeking something extraordinary in every bite.”
