The agreement will see NewPrinces, which was formed following the £700 million acquisition of Princes by Newlat Food in 2024, purchase the infant food brands Plasmon, Nipiol and Dieterba, as well as specialty brands Aproten and Biaglut.
The transaction is expected to close at end of 2025, subject to regulatory approval.
The deal also includes the sale of Kraft Heinz’s production facility in Latina, Italy. Located in the Lazio region, the Latina factory employs around 300 people who manufacture approximately 1.8 billion biscuits per year for the Plasmon brand.
The factory and its employees will continue to operate as usual under NewPrinces ownership. Kraft Heinz is now entering a mandatory consultation period with the local unions in Italy.
“This marks an important milestone in driving our strategy across Europe and the Pacific, enabling us to fuel investment and growth in our core areas, and enhance focus on our Accelerate platforms,” commented Willem Brandt, president for Europe and Pacific Developed Markets at Kraft Heinz.
“It’s a great example of how we’re intentionally and proactively managing our portfolio to accelerate organic growth and drive sustainable, long-term value.”
Carmela Bazzarelli, managing director at Kraft Heinz Italia, added: “I’m confident this portfolio of iconic brands will thrive in the capable hands of the NewPrinces Group – a market leader in the food and beverage industry, including in specialised nutrition, with a strong Italian heritage and ambitious growth plans."
Meanwhile, NewPrinces chair Angelo Mastrolia described the move as a "moment of great pride and emotion" for the group.
“Bringing home brands like Plasmon, Nipiol, BiAglut, Aproten, and Dieterba fulfils a vision we have pursued for years — to create an Italian multinational company that gives new life to beloved national brands with deep roots in our country’s identity," Mastrolia said.
“With this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to Italy and to the excellence of its food industry.”
NewPrinces has a portfolio which includes well-known brands such as Princes, Napolina, Delverde, Branston and Flora, with manufacturing sites across the UK.
