The launch comes after Wrexham Lager formed new partnerships with British Columbia Liquor Store and the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, two of North America’s largest alcohol retailers.
In British Columbia, Wrexham Lager is now being sold in 92 different British Columbia Liquor Store locations, as well as a number of licensed retail stores across the province.
British Columbia Liquor Store shops are stocking Wrexham Lager in the 6x 330ml can multipack format, while 330ml and 500ml cans are being sold in licensed retail stores.
Elsewhere, the partnership with Liquor Control Board of Ontario will see the 500ml single can format available across the province of Ontario.
This move marks the latest international expansion for the Welsh beer brand, which over the past 12 months has launched into the US, Australian, Scandinavian, Northern Ireland, and Hungarian markets.
“Expanding into Canada is a proud moment for the brand,” said Jon Roberts, interim CEO of The Wrexham Lager Beer Co.
“With our products now available in Ontario and British Columbia, Canadian customers now get to experience a taste of our premium lager. It’s another milestone for the team and our global success demonstrates the appetite for genuine and authentic lager.”
Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became co-owners of Wrexham Lager in October last year after purchasing a stake in the brewer.
The pair, who are also majority owners of football club Wrexham AFC, acquired the brewery through Red Dragon Ventures, which is a joint venture formed by their R.R. McReynolds company, along with minority investors the Allyn family of Skaneateles, New York.
Meanwhile, the Roberts family, who have owned and operated the business since 2011, maintain an active role within the business.
In related news, Co-op has secured partnerships with seven UK small breweries in order to bolster its in-store craft beer offering.
