Ingredients and allergens on the label have not been written in English.

Unilever UK has recalled a number of its Wall’s Mini Milk Vanilla Strawberry & Chocolate Ice Cream Lollies as a precaution.

The 10x35ml packs have been recalled following a labelling error which means that product information, including ingredients and allergens are in Spanish rather than English.

This means that ingredients such as milk and the warning that it may contain nuts (pistachios), peanuts and soya are not mentioned in English on the label.

The product is therefore a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to nuts (pistachios) and/or an allergy to peanuts and/or soya.

In it recall poster Unilever UK stated: “The products and ingredients are the same as the UK product and it is only a limited number of Wall’s Mini Milk Vanilla Strawberry & Chocolate Ice Cream Lollies 10x 35ml packs that feature the incorrect Spanish label.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your co-operation.”

The items recalled are:

Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.

These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Unilever was to guarantee ice cream worker jobs across Europe and Britain for three years.
