Dunnes Stores is recalling an apple pie product because of a labelling error that may put people with nut allergies at risk.

Boxes marked as ‘Luxury Apple Pie (750g)’ with a 16 June 2025 best before date were accidentally packed with a different pie – the ‘Luxury Pear and Almond Pie’ – which contains almonds.

However, the presence of almonds is not mentioned on the label, which instead says that the apple pie “may contain nuts”.

This means that the product poses a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts. This recall is specific to Ireland.

Dunnes Stores has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations which will inform their members, while point of sale notices will be displayed in all stores that are selling this product.

Anyone with an allergy to nuts has been advised not to consume the product and to return it to there store where it was purchased for a full refund, with or without a receipt.

“The Dunnes Stores Luxury Apple Pie 750g may contain nuts, while the Dunnes Stores Luxury Pear and Almond Pie 750g does contain almonds,” the retailer said.

“Our supplier VF Foods has informed us that BBD 16.06.25 BATCH 242 may be affected.”

The statement concluded: “We apologies that it has been necessary to recall these products and for the inconvenience caused.”
