The discount retailer has said that one batch of Harvest Basket Hash Browns may contain pieces of metal, which presents a choking hazard and makes the product unsafe to eat.
Anyone that has purchased a 750g pack of Harvest Basket Hash Browns with the batch code 5144L and a best before date of 24 May 2027 has been advised not to consume the product and to return it for a full refund.
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product, with the recall specific to stores in England, Scotland and Wales.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation,” Lidl said.
“No other Harvest Basket products in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recall.”
Earlier this month Lidl recalled a separate product because the allergen information was not printed in English.
It relates to one batch of Healthy Fit brand Cookies & Cream Protein Bars where the label fails to disclose in English that the bars contain milk and soya. Impacted bars have a best before date of January 2026 and a 002851 batch code.
In other news, activists stormed the stage at Tesco’s AGM on 12 June calling on the retailer to sever ties with meat processor Cranswick.
