Aromacolors, based just outside of the Polish city of Poznań, is known for manufacturing liquid and powder flavourings and colourings for the food and drink sector across Europe.
In addition to strengthening its position in Europe, Plant-Ex said that the acquisition would bring significant benefits to the south west of England by bringing added demand to its existing sites in Avonmouth and Bristol and creating new skilled jobs across production, R&D, logistics and technical support.
Plant-Ex, which specialises in natural colours and flavours, now has manufacturing and distribution sites now covering western, central and southeastern Europe and employs more than 130 people.
“This is a major step forward, not just for Plant-Ex but for the wider Bristol and South West economy,” said Giles Drewett, CEO and founder of Plant-Ex.
“By integrating Aromacolors into the Plant-Ex Group, we’re adding depth to our technical capabilities and expanding our product offering. But just as importantly, we’re investing right here in the UK through scaling up our operations and creating opportunities for local talent in an area that’s fast becoming a hub for food innovation and advanced manufacturing.”
Edward Budzulak, CEO of Aromacolors, added: “This marks an exciting new chapter for Aromacolors. Becoming part of Plant-Ex opens up new opportunities to enhance our capabilities and bring even more value to our customers across Europe.
“With a broader product offering and access to expanded resources, we are well positioned to support continued innovation and growth in the European market.”
During 2024, Plant-Ex invested more than £2 million across the business including with the opening on a new site in Avonmouth to increase storage and flavour production.
The firm also built a new quality control centre to support its laboratories and a new savoury flavours laboratory to increase its development support out of its innovation centre.
