The recall relates to 18 packs of 500ml glass bottles of ‘Topo Chico Mineral Water’ with the lot code #13A2541, which Coca-Cola said in a letter to Costco members may have been contaminated with a type of bacteria called Pseudomonas.
The lot code can be found on the box and the neck of the bottle.
The packs in question were purchased between 20 May and 29 May at select Texas and Louisiana warehouses, Coca-Cola told Costco members.
Anyone that has purchased one of the potentially contaminated packs has been advised to return it to their local Costco for a full refund. They can also contact Coca-Cola directly.
“Pseudomonas can be found naturally in water sources, including mineral water,” Coca-Cola said.
“The health consequences of consuming mineral water with the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is considered to be very low in healthy individuals with potential minor health consequences if consumed by individuals with weakened immune systems.
“The safety and quality of the products we offer our consumers is our top priority.”
The recall notice can be accessed on the Costco website. Costco is a US-based retailer and wholesaler that operates in 14 countries around the world, including the UK.
