Over the next 14 weeks, 10 stores will open while a further 30 stores will undergo a refresh, the discount retailer said.
New stores are set to open in Sheffield, Newcastle and Fulham Broadway, as well as Brighouse in West Yorkshire, Oldbury in West Midlands, Caterham in Surrey, Deeside in Wales, Diss in Norfolk, Hilton in Derbyshire and Market Harborough in Leicestershire.
Each new store will create 40 jobs for people in the local area, with Aldi investing around £650 million to fund its summer store opening and refresh programme.
The move is part of Aldi’s wider plan to have 1,500 stores in the UK, with the retailer currently above 1,050. A full list of stores that are being upgraded can be found at the bottom of the article.
“At Aldi, our goal is to ensure everyone has access to high-quality food at unbeatable prices, and we’re committed to achieving that with our ambitious store opening plans,” said Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK.
“We’re targeting 40 new store openings in 2025, while many of our current stores will also be getting a refresh to enhance the customer experience, meaning we can consistently offer the best value for money to even more shoppers across the UK.”
Aldi announced earlier this year that it was increasing the hourly wage of its store assistants to £12.75, and £14.05 in London. It has also committed to a further pay increase for store colleagues from September 2025, taking its minimum rates of pay to £12.85 per hour nationally and £14.16 per hour in London.
