Gosh! has launched two new products into the on-the-go snacking category (Gosh!)

Gosh! has expanded into the on-the-go market with the launch of its new Mexican and Italian inspired Veg Bites snack packs.

The new Veg Bites snack pack formats are available in two world flavours, including Mexican inspired made with baked sweet potato, chickpeas, black beans, chipotle, harissa, herbs and spices, and an Italian inspired flavour made with red pepper, chickpeas, spinach and herbs.

Both snack packs are made with 100% and deliver roughly a third of consumers’ weekly Plant Points target – coined on the back of research carried out by the American Gut Project, the goal is to eat 30 different plants per week to promote a healthier diet.

On-the-go innovation

Caroline Hughes, marketing director at Gosh!, said: “At Gosh! we are excited to be launching our new Veg Bites snack packs as our first innovation within the ‘on-the-go’ category.

“For too long, meal deal snacks have been dominated by unhealthy and uninspiring choices that lack nutritional benefits, and leave you feeling unsatisfied. Our new Veg Bites will enable shoppers to make healthier choices while on-the-go, without having to compromise on taste or convenience.”

Research by Nielsen has found that 97% of meal deal shoppers are open to healthier snack options and 70% either currently or would buy plant-based snacks. However, 38% of people said it is impossible to be healthy when having a shop bought, ready-made lunch and it has been reported up to 57% of daily energy intake comes from UPFs.

Gap in the market

With stricter HFSS legislation being introduced, Gosh! has identified there’s a growing gap in the market for healthier snacking options that align with the consumer demand for nutritious, clean-label products.

The Mexican Veg Bites will be available to purchase from Morrisons stores nationwide individually, RRP £1.30, or as part of the meal deal.

Meanwhile, last month saw Gosh! expand its ‘Street Food’ range with the addition of two new SKUs.

The new ‘Aloo Tikki Bites’ and ‘Katsu Bites’ are now available in Tesco stores nationwide, while they are coming soon Ocado.
