The independent alcohol-free beer brand rolled out the new recipe this month, which involves a “revolutionary” reverse osmosis process that operates at a low temperature to preserve the most flavour while removing all the alcohol.
Co-founder Duncan Keith said that the new formula has allowed the brand to upgrade “quality at every step” and brew the “beer we’ve always dreamed of making”.
Made to a traditional Helles recipe, the new Days 0.0% ABV lager is a light straw colour in appearance, and has a biscuity malt body and crisp hop bitterness.
“We started Days because we knew moderation shouldn’t mean missing out,” Duncan explained.
“Using four years of consumer insight, coupled with learnings from our thousands of retail distribution partners across the UK we set out to redevelop our lager recipe.”
As low and no drinks become more popular, Duncan said it was imperative to keep up with changing preferences.
“This has given us the chance to bring beer to more consumers and more occasions and as the category’s reach began to grow, we knew we wanted to redevelop our lager to have broader flavour appeal,” he added.
“At the same time, technology has improved, and de-alcoholisation tech is now available to us that simply wasn’t four years ago.”
Days beer is available at Stonegate operated pubs, Waitrose supermarkets, selected independent on and off trade outlets and via the brewer’s website.
“Over the past year, we’ve collaborated with some of the most forward-thinking experts in beer to create a brew that meets the evolving expectations of today’s drinkers,” Duncan continued.
“Crafted here in the UK, our new Days lager is clean, crisp, and indistinguishable from a full-strength beer. It’s also one of the healthiest beers on the market - low in carbs, sugar, and calories and 0.0% ABV. Honestly, it’s the beer we’ve been dreaming of brewing since day one.”
