The recall relates to packs of ‘Asda Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices 380g’ with a use by date of 25 April 2025 and a barcode number of 5063089827178.
The impacted packs may contain milk and sulphites which are not mentioned on the label, which means that the product poses a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites.
This is because certain packs of the pork belly slices have been mispacked with ‘Asda Simple To Cook Tomato & Mozzarella Pork Meatballs’ which contain milk and sulphites.
Anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites has been urged not to consume the impact product and instead return it to the nearest Asda store for a full refund, no receipt required.
Asda has issued point of sale notices with information about the recall, which also confirm that no other products or date codes have been impacted by this issue.
“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused,” said the retailer.
In related news, Asda announced last week that James Goodman is set to join as chief people officer later this year.
Goodman joins Asda from Tesco where he spent the last 12 years, most recently people director for the UK and Ireland.
Commenting on the news, Goodman said that he was thrilled to be joining Asda and couldn’t wait to embed himself with the team.
“Asda is a great business and I can’t wait to roll my sleeves up and join Allan [Leighton] and the rest of the leadership team on our mission to return Asda to where it belongs, as a champion for hard working families and a brilliant place to work,” he commented.
Allan Leighton, Asda executive chair, added: “[James] brings a huge amount of experience with him and will be a vital part of the leadership team as we continue to rebuild and deliver on our ambition to once again be the best place to work in the UK.”
