Nestlé has appointed Stefano Bolognese as the managing director for Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages UK.

Bolognese succeeds Grant McKenzie, who has taken over as head of Northern Europe for Nestlé Waters.

In his new role, Bolognese will join the Nestlé UK & Ireland leadership team and oversee the Waters business, whose brands include Princes Gate, Nestlé Pure Life and the Sanpellegrino Italian sparkling drinks range.

A graduate with a degree in economics from Bocconi University, Italy, Bolognese joined Nestlé in 2000 and has held various leadership positions in sales, marketing and business development across the waters and food categories.

Leadership role

Most recently, he lead the Sanpellegrino International Business Unit in Italy, where he played a significant role in strengthening the Acqua Panna, S.Pellegrino, and Sanpellegrino Beverages portfolios globally.

Commenting on his appointment, Bolognese said: “I am honoured to step into the role of Managing Director for Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages UK at such an exciting time for the business. My focus will be on nurturing the truly remarkable brands we have here, including Buxton and Princes Gate.

“I can see that I’m joining a fantastic team and I’ll be looking to create an environment where they can excel even further and continue the great work they’re already doing, like the latest innovative water capture project in Pembrokeshire.”

Board shake-up

Bolognese’s appointment comes five months after Nestlé CEO announced a series of changes to its executive board to increase simplicity and speed up decision making.

The changes included merging Zone Latin America and Zone North America to create Zone Americas (AMS) and incorporating Zone Greater China Region into Zone Asia, Oceania and Africa (AOA), which will operate under the leadership of Remy Ejel.

Meanwhile, in other appointment news, drinks firm Highland Spring Group has appointed Paul Dobson as its new operations director.

An industry expert with more than 35 years of manufacturing experience, Dobson will lead all the group’s operational functions including manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain.
