Sainsbury’s is recalling a pretzel SKU because it may contain pieces of metal.

Packs of the ‘Belgian Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Pretzel (150g)’ (from the Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference range) with an April 2025 best before date may have been contaminated with metal fragments, which would make them unsafe to eat.

The impacted pretzels can also be identified by their ‘L159922′ batch code. The best before date and batch code can be located on the packaging.

Pretzels from the impacted batch have now been withdrawn from sale.

To alert consumers about the food safety issue, recall notices are being displayed in all Sainsbury’s stores that sell the product.

Anyone that is in possession of a pretzel from the impacted batch has been advised not to eat it and to instead return it to a Sainsbury’s store for a full refund. No receipt is required.

“Sainsbury’s is recalling the above product from stores due to the possible presence of metal fragments,” the recall notices read.

“If you have purchased the above product with the affected batch code, please do not consume this product and instead return it to any Sainsbury’s store for a refund.

“For any further information, please contact Sainsbury’s Careline team. No other Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference confectionery products have been affected by this issue. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Sainsbury’s operates 600 supermarkets, in addition to more than 800 convenience stores, employing 148,000 people.

In related news, Lidl is recalling several batches of a pork scratchings product sold in its stores in Britain because it has been contaminated with Salmonella.

Packs of Sol & Mar branded pork scratchings with any of the following date codes have been contaminated and should not be consumed: 05 August 2025, 06 August 2025, 07 August 2025, 08 August 2025, 09 August 2025, 10 August 2025, 11 August 2025 and 12 August 2025.
