Taylors Snacks has recently launched three new flavours of snacks listed in Lidl stores across GB. This is a significant milestone for the brand, which continues to expand its presence in major UK supermarkets following the successful rebrand from Mackies Crisps in 2023. (Taylors Snacks)

Scottish crisp manufacturer Taylors Snacks is launching three new flavours exclusively into Lidl stores this month ahead of a nationwide rollout later this year.

Fiery Pickled Onion Ridge Cut, Chip Shop Curry Sauce Ridge Cut, and Blazin’ BBQ Straight Cut will be available in all Lidl GB stores from 3 April.

This range expansion aims to capitalise on growing consumer demand for spicier snack options and nostalgic British takeaway flavours. It was this demand for spicier snacks that sparked the creation of the Fiery Pickled Onion Ridge Cut, which Taylors claimed was a world first for the crisp category.

GB-wide opportunity

Commenting on the launch, Taylors Snacks MD James Taylor said: “This GB-wide opportunity with Lidl represents a major milestone for our business. Since launching just two years ago, we’ve become the second-largest premium crisp brand in Scotland.

“Now Lidl’s nationwide distribution will help introduce our brand – and bold new flavours – to consumers across the UK.”

Taylors Snacks employs 170 people across sites in Errol and Sheffield, has seen its Scottish brand awareness grow to 73% since launch. These three new products were developed following extensive research, with Chip Shop Curry Sauce and Blazin’ BBQ ranking as the most requested flavours among consumers.

Championing Scottish producers

Paul McQuade, head of buying at Lidl GB, added: “Championing homegrown Scottish producers is at the heart of what we do at Lidl, so it is great to be supporting Taylors Snacks on bringing these exciting new flavours to market.

“We have enjoyed a strong working relationship since the brand launched and look forward to introducing Taylors’ innovative product range to Lidl customers across the nation.”

The launch comes as the UK premium crisp category reaches £353m in annual sales, with spicy flavour innovations driving category growth as demonstrated by the success of Taylors’ Spicy Prawn Cocktail variety, which achieved the highest rate of sale across grocers during Christmas 2024.
