Tesco is recalling several batches of two different meal kit products because of an allergen labelling error.

The recall was triggered after soya was detected in a number of packs of Tesco branded free-from meal kits that would not usually contain the allergen. As a result, the label did not declare that the product contained soya.

This means that the products, the ‘Tesco Free From Katsu Curry Meal Kit’ and the ‘Tesco Free From Sweet & Sour Meal Kit’ (both sold in 250g packs), pose a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy to soya.

All katsu packs with a best before date up to and including 12 December 2025, and all packs of the sweet and sour meal kit with a best before date up to and including 19 May 2025, are being recalled.

Tesco has been advised by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) to contact all relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The retailer has also issued recall notices that will be displayed in all stores that sold the product prior to it being withdrawn from shelves. Tesco has around 2,700 stores of various sizes in the UK.

“If you have purchased the affected product, please do not eat it,” Tesco said.

“Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required. No other Tesco products are affected by this recall.”

In related news, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners is recalling various drinks products sold in the UK because they may make consumers unwell.

The recall relates to two imported batches of 6x250ml Appletiser multipacks, as well as a “small amount” of imported cans of Coca‑Cola, Coca‑Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke and Sprite Zero, which may contain elevated levels of Chlorate.

As a result, the product may pose a food safety risk to consumers, especially those who are sensitive to chlorate or have a pre-existing iodine deficiency.
