Premium meal prep delivery service FuelHub has appointed Steve King as its new head of growth.

King joins the company from re-commerce giant musicMagpie, where he spent nearly 12 years across various marketing roles and was most recently group head of marketing (2020-2024).

During his time with musicMagpie, King was responsible for delivering its ‘SMARTDrop Kiosk’ – a system to instantly sell your old phones – which launched nationwide across 300 Asda retail stores and generated £15 million in its first 18 months.

As head of growth, King will be responsible for cementing FuelHub’s position as the go-to brand for high-performance nutrition and premium quality meals and identifying new avenues for growth and expansion.

Key responsibilities

Part of this will be leading on technology upgrades, with focus on introduction of a mobile app to enhance the customer experience. He will also lead on securing major partnerships with fitness brands, sports franchises, as well as increasing collaboration with influencers.

Commenting on his appointment, King said: “FuelHub is a brand with incredible potential, led by a team that has built a fantastic foundation and I’m looking forward to helping to take it to the next level.

“Growth isn’t just about acquiring customers but about creating a brand and experience that people genuinely connect with and keep coming back to. This is an exciting time for the business, and I can’t wait to make an impact.”

Run of growth

King’s appointment followed a run of growth for FuelHub, which recently announced 90% year-on-year revenue increase since its inception in 2019, and a consistent 9% month-on-month rise in customer numbers.

Michelle Laithwaite, co-founder and CEO at FuelHub, added: “Steve is a fantastic addition to our team, bringing an abundance of experience to help take us into the next stages of our journey.

“He will play a key role in our ambitious plans to expand our customer base and establish more partnerships with leading brands and organisations, while ensuring we maintain the same level of commitment to our existing customers who have helped us get to where we are today.”

Meanwhile, Sofina Foods Europe has strengthened its senior leadership team with three new appointments.
