The Crosta Mollica ‘Salami Napoli Pizza’ launches in Tesco stores nationwide on 28 April, while its new two-pack of ‘Frozen Sourdough Pizza Bases’ are available now at Waitrose.
The Salami Napoli Pizza will retail at £5.75 and has been developed to complement the brand’s existing range of options. According to the latest Nielsen data, 50% of chilled pizzas sold in the UK are either Margherita or Pepperoni varieties, with the salami SKU offering a “milder yet sophisticated alternative” to Crosta Mollica’s ‘Stromboli Pizza’.
Meanwhile, the Frozen Sourdough Pizza Bases were created in response to the success of the brand’s chilled pizza base, its first and best-selling pizza SKU. Available in a pack of two, the frozen pizza bases retail at £4.95.
“Our brand has always been about bringing the genuine taste of Italy to those with excellent taste,” said Dean Lavender, marketing director at Crosta Mollica.
“With our complete brand refresh and new product launches, we’re continuing to honour our commitment to authentic Italian craftsmanship while making it even easier for food lovers to enjoy premium quality meals at home.
“The Frozen Pizza Bases celebrate our heritage – Pizza Base was our first-ever pizza product and remains our best-seller – while our new Salami Napoli pizza responds directly to what our customers have been asking for: an authentically Italian take on a beloved classic."
Executive chair David Milner added that investing in NPD was a key priority for the brand and hinted at further launches later this year.
He concluded: “We always take our inspiration from what is truly Italian, taking time to understand the difference between a Neapolitan pizza and a Romano one, for example. Watch this space.”
Founded in 2009, Crosta Mollica has recently undergone a major rebrand, including dropping the ampersand from its name.
The brand has also become the primary shirt sponsor for Venezia FC’s women’s first team for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
