Baxters Food Group is recalling the batches of its ‘Baxters Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet’ because the label does not mention that the product contains mustard.
This means that it poses a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard, which is one of the 14 widely acknowledged food allergens.
The gherkins are sold in 540g jars, with the affected batches having a best before date of either June 2026 or July 2026 and one of the following reference codes: 2400059, 2400060, 2400061, 2400062 or 2400063.
The best before date and batch code can be found on the lid of the jar.
Baxters Food Group has been advised by the Food Standard Agency (FSA) to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will then alert their members to the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notices that will be displayed in stores where the gherkins are sold.
Anyone with an allergy to mustard has been advised by Baxters Food Group and the FSA not to eat the product and return to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
Customers can also contact Baxters Food Group directly for further information.
