The business, which operated bakeries in Grange, Flookburgh, Ulverston and Barrow, made the announcement on its website and social media accounts on 19 February.
“With great sadness we are sorry to announce the closure of Grange Bakery with immediate effect,” the statement read.
“The current economic climate has been very difficult for small independent businesses like ours and despite the best efforts of our staff we simply cannot continue.”
The bakery’s management also praised current and former staff, as well as its customers, for the role they played.
“We would like to thank all our staff for their hard work and dedication over the years,” added the statement.
“We would [also] like to thank our loyal and regular customers and we are sorry that we will no longer be there for you.”
Grange Bakery manufactured a wide range of products including classic loaves, sourdough, pies and cakes.
It also offered a buffet service for local businesses and events that required catering.
