Corporación Hijos de Rivera is a family-owned firm based in Galicia, Spain, which owns drinks brands including Estrella Galicia, 1906, Cabreiroá, Fontarel, Agua de Cuevas, Ponte de Boga and Maeloc.
The new subsidiary has been created under the name Estrella Galicia UK Limited and enables the company to distribute its full portfolio of beverage brands in collaboration with its local partners.
Estrella Galicia UK Limited began trading last month and is continuing to work in partnership with exclusive distributor Greene King.
‘Closer to our customers’
“Having our own subsidiary in a market as dynamic and with as much potential as the UK will allow us to put down roots here, something important for us here at Hijos de Rivera, bringing us closer to our customers, meaning a better knowledge of our products on their side while we gain agility in distribution,” commented Francisco Ucha, Hijos de Rivera managing director.
Meanwhile, Aitor de Artaza, director of Estrella Galicia Internacional, said that he was confident that the creation of a UK subsidiary will enable the company to deliver a better service.
“It will allow us to bring our teams close to customers on the ground, improving our service and our listening, while also driving the positioning of our brands in the British market and the rollout of investment targeting the growth of the business in this key market for our international expansion,” de Artaza explained.
Founded in 1906, Hijos de Rivera has a presence in more than 73 countries where it produces, markets and distributes a wide range of products including beers, mineral waters, wines and ciders.
The firm has enjoyed strong growth in recent years and now employs more than 1,800 people group-wide.
The Estrella Galicia brand in particular has grown in relevance in the UK in recent years, partly due to its sponsorship of the McLaren Formula 1 Team.
