Food Manufacture rounds up the latest food and drink products to secure retail listings, including 800 new lines in Iceland.

Iceland reveals major new product launch

Iceland Foods has announced the launch of more than 800 new products as part of the retailer’s latest innovation push.

The new products land in Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores from this week, and will also be available online.

The fresh tranche of products include exclusive frozen meal offerings from Jamie Oliver and the relaunch of the Piccolino range.

As part of relaunch 14 new Piccolino lines are being rolled out alongside the existing two-course £10 meal deal for two.

Iceland is also unveiling a Blue Dragon range relaunch and five new product innovations, while it has expanded its TGI Friday’s offering after the range saw a 25% year-on-year rise in sales.

The Slimming World range is expanding too, with new options including Sweet Potato Curry Lunch bowls and Carrot and Coriander soup.

“We’re always listening to feedback from our shoppers and looking for ways to bring them new, innovative and delicious options from some of the biggest brands,”​ said Iceland Foods chief commercial officer Paul Dhaliwal.

“We can’t wait for our customers to get their hands on the new range and sample some of the fantastic products and deals on offer.”

Wider selection of Purity beer now available in Asda and Sainsbury's

Purity Brewing Co has secured a listing for its Hazy Pale Bunny Hop beer in Asda and Sainsbury's nationwide.

The 3.4% ABV gluten free and vegan friendly beer joins Mad Goose and Pure UBU, also manufactured by the Warwickshire brewery, on the shelves of Asda and Sainsbury’s stores.

Pure UBU is the first beer to be brewed by Purity back in 2005 has been available across all major grocers for more than 15 years.

The development is the result of Purity responding to an innovation brief from the Asda procurement team, which was hoping to modernise and widen the reach of its premium bottled ales category.

Commenting on the expanded listing, Purity head of marketing Paul Brazier said: “Our business has been built on the success of our real ale range. Since inception Bunny Hop has been available in cask, keg and can – it’s the first time we’ve packaged Bunny Hop into 500ml bottles.

“It’s great to see the PBA category widen its reach to drinkers with a more diverse palette. At a lower ABV, but full of citrus and tropical hop character, we’re looking forward to seeing this brand grow and help revive the PBA category.”

The Curators secures Waitrose listing

Snack brand The Curators has earned a listing for its Original Salted Pork Puffs in Waitrose.

The savoury snack retails at £1.25 and will be available in 120 Waitrose stores from 22 September.

Already available in Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Tesco and ASDA stores across the UK, the protein-rich crisps are a “re-imagined version of traditional pork scratchings”.

Each bag contains 18g of protein and 133 calories, while the snack is also gluten free.

Sister brand Cheesies, which was acquired by The Curators in January 2023, is also relaunching into Waitrose with its cheddar and goat’s cheese crisps.

Previously available in 60g sharing bags, the smaller format 20g packs are priced at £1.50 and will also be available from 22 September.

“The launch of these three products into Waitrose stores nationwide ensures we’re able to bring our unique combination of mouth wateringly tasty, savoury, nutritious snacks to even more people – whether they are looking for an on-the-go bite to beat hunger pangs, a post-workout protein pick-me-up, or a delicious crunchy cheese snack to enjoy over a glass of wine with friends.”

Pimentae cocktails launches in John Lewis and Ocado

Canned cocktail manufacturer Pimentae has secured listings with John Lewis and Ocado.

Pimentae’s full range of products is now available on Ocado, while the Tommy’s Spicy Margarita 50cl bottle and an exclusive mini gift pack has been rolled out in 35 John Lewis stores.

Retailing at £38, the gift packs will exclusively be available through John Lewis and include two 20cl glass bottles each of its flavours: Tommy’s Spicy Margarita, Spicy Margarita and Cucumber and Elderflower Eclipse.

All of its cocktails are 100% vegan and gluten free and are packaged in fully recyclable materials.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with John Lewis and Ocado, bringing Pimentae to a wider audience and offering more ways for people to enjoy our cocktails,” ​said Alice Parmiter, co-founder of Pimentae.

“The launch of our exclusive mini gift packs is a testament to our commitment to innovation and providing customers with luxurious, on-the-go cocktail experiences.”

Existing stockists include Selfridges, Waitrose and Amazon, while its products are also available on the Pimentae website.

In other news, the Competition and Markets Authority has launched an inquiry into the proposed acquisition of two ForFarmers owned feed mills by Boparan Private Office.
