The four finalists in this hard-fought category will be looking to take the top prize as Ingredients Manufacturing Company of the Year.

Carr’s Flour Mills 

Carr's Flour Mills is a family-owned business that has been trading for nearly 200 years. 

It has three mills with one dedicated to retail flour, both branded and own label.  Many employees across the three mills have worked for Carr’s for over 25 years. 

The company mills all its grains by origin or grain type rather than grist (blends of different wheats/grain).  It has its own specially designed blending plant which allows it to mix the flour and any ingredients accurately. 

It is continuously investing to improve the business. It is currently undertaking a major engineering project to dredge the inner and outer harbour near its Kirkcaldy Mill to create a deeper port, allowing them to bring in larger ships carrying grain. 

 

I.T.S

I.T.S. is a privately owned and independent flavour house based in Newbury, Berkshire. The company manufactures and supplies a wide range of natural flavourings and supplies to a wide range of markets such as bakery, beverage, dairy, plant-based, and sports nutrition products

The business was founded by Mike Bagshaw in 2009 and 13 years later is active in over 25 countries..

I.T.S. is fully accredited with BRC AA grade to ensure all manufacturing processes reach the highest food safety standards. It also holds certification for Halal, Kosher and Organic. 

The focus over the last year has been to grow new markets, with the beverage sector identified as a key area for growth. 

I.T.S is also now investing in large warehouse and factory extensions, due to its rapid growth.

 

Sleaford quality Foods

 Sleaford Quality Foods is the supplier of ambient ingredients and blends to the manufacturing, catering and foodservice industries. 

Products include herbs, spices, seasoning, dried & dehydrated fruits/vegetables, pulses and innovative blends. It also has advanced production, NPD, blending and technical facilities/departments. 

The company has implemented new testing initiatives targeting improved food safety allowing it to focus more on at risk contaminates. 

The company has won significant new business in the past twelve months via single ingredients and several new blends. It has also launched a new Technical Portal, which allows customers to instantly connect to technical information on approved suppliers. 

 

Synergy Flavours

Synergy Flavours is a global manufacturer of flavourings, extracts and essences. With over 135-years of beverage development expertise, the company works collaboratively with customers to deliver tailored ingredients.  

When Carbery, its parent company, was founded over 50 years ago, the purpose was to create a stable and sustainable future for the farmers of West Cork, its shareholders. 

The company has a quality management system and food security program, in accordance with the global standard BRC Food Safety issue 8, which includes both a site and process-specific HACCP system. This has been recognised by the award of BRC grade AA certification.

The company shifted to 100% renewable electricity in 2021, has seen water use intensity decline, waste to landfill has fallen with its High Wycombe site achieving “Zero to Landfill” in 2021.
