ABP creates 200 jobs to tackle youth unemployment
The manufacturer – in collaboration with Youth Employment UK – is offering the vacancies and apprenticeships through its ABP Talent Academy scheme, which supports staff with personal career development alongside technical training.
Opportunities promoted across the 14 sites included careers butchery, abattoir, process improvement, engineering, IT and technical.
‘Youth friendly employer’
Bob Carnell, ABP chief executive, said: “We have always been a youth friendly employer and it is particularly important to us to be involved with Youth Employment UK which plays a key role in connecting young people with job opportunities and providing them with support, inspiration and advice.
“Our business has for decades worked with British farmers to bring quality meat to the table of UK homes and we are committed to bringing young people into our organisation, developing their skills and allowing then to flourish while doing our bit to boost the economy.”
ABP’s partnership with Youth Employment UK will work to showcase and drive awareness of apprenticeships and their availability to young people.

Meanwhile, late last month, 2 Sisters Food Group revealed plans to create 180 new jobs at its prepared meals factory in Rogerstone, south Wales – the latest in a series of employment drives by the company that included 100 new jobs at its Norfolk site and a commitment to tackle youth unemployment in Devon and Lincolnshire.
