Nimbus Foods, the inclusions, decorations and toppings manufacturer owned by Meadow Foods, has appointed Craig Freshwater as its new confectionery NPD manager.

Freshwater will have overall responsibility for driving product innovation and process improvement across the current range of inclusions, but also to scope and deliver new products into the portfolio. He is charged with the delivery of Meadow Foods’ strategic aim of delivering more value-adding innovation to Nimbus customers.

He joins the company with more than 30 years’ experience in sugar confectionery manufacturing, product management and the sweet-making industry. He has gathered experience from a range of industry-leading businesses, including Tangerine Confectionery.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and ambitious business," said Freshwater. "Nimbus has an excellent reputation within the food manufacturing industry, and I look forward to furthering the range of quality products we are able to offer customers.”

Meadow Foods acquired Nimbus Foods last year

The company operates from a BRC AA-grade factory in Dolgellau, Wales, and supplies some of the world’s best-known brands across categories such as bakery, confectionery, ice-cream, desserts and cereals. Nimbus Foods was acquired by Meadow Foods last year as part of a strategy to grow its group of businesses through organic expansion and acquisition.

Mark Chantler, chief executive of Meadow Foods, added: “We are delighted to welcome Craig to the Nimbus Foods team. His wealth of experience will complement the team and allow us to further develop our expertise in sweet inclusions as well as to bring new and exciting products to the market.”

Meadow Foods operates from four BRC AA-accredited sites in Chester, Peterborough, Holme-on-Spalding Moor and Dolgellau, which make ingredients for some of the UK’s best-known food manufacturers. The company employs more than 430 people and handles in excess of 550 million litres of milk each year direct from its network of dedicated milk producers across the UK.
