Now, more than ever, it is important that we here at Food Manufacture show solidarity with our readers, friends and supporters in the industry, who are integral to the survival of this nation during the coronavirus outbreak.

Coronavirus has affected every part of the system and has drastically changed the way that many of us live our lives, but the valiant efforts of this amazing industry have kept the country pressing forwards.

In these troubling times, it’s important that we all support one another in this industry, the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, which employs more than 400,000 people.

At Food Manufacture, we understand many of you are dealing with unprecedented challenges for your businesses. These are difficult and frightening times, but we want to assure you that we are here to support you in any way that we can.

Working together

For more than 90 years we have served as the voice of the food and drink manufacturing industry through thick and thin. No matter the difficulties, our industry has stayed resilient and made it through to the other side – and this pandemic is no exception.

From the shop floor to the delivery drivers, the engineers to the factory managers and everyone in between, we salute you and your tireless efforts to keep the nation fed.

Firms that are struggling to cope during this pandemic should know that a number of initiatives have been set up to help support the continued running of their businesses.

The Butchers' and Drovers' Charitable Institution chairman Ian Kelly has reassured the meat industry that the organisation will give financial help to anyone in the sector who needs it. The Government has also revealed a suite of support for businesses.
