Bells Professional Pastry, the dedicated pastry division of Bells Food Group, has set out ambitions to forge links with meat and poultry processors.

Over the last quarter of the year, the business supplied more than 1,000 tonnes of pastry products to UK and Irish meat, fish and poultry manufacturers.

James Drury, pastry business manager of Bells Food Group, explained the type of businesses that it was hoping to work with through the Professional Pastry division. “We are looking to work with large high-volume food manufacturers in the UK and Ireland, that we can form long-term and successful partnerships with,” he said.

“Our specialist pastry products suit meat, poultry and seafood processors, as we can supply product formats which are easily assembled in a production environment without the processor needing to invest in machinery.”

Four core ranges

The Bells Professional Pastry division was set up in September last year and focuses on four core product ranges:

  • ‘Roll & Cut’ – rolls, slabs or sheets of pastry;
  • ‘Specialist Pastry’ – pre-cut shapes and designs, popular for ready-to-cook ranges from wellingtons and turnovers to parcels and en croutes;
  • ‘Bespoke’ – for all unique pastry needs and requirements; and
  • ‘Fill & Bake’ – providing the flexibility to create high-quality everyday bakery products from pies, to sausage rolls and quiches.

Drury added: “We’re delighted with our success to date and we’re confident that we can secure even more added-value partnerships this year to help boost pastry production.

“We’re a highly experienced team and pride ourselves on supporting customers from concept to launch by assisting in every stage of innovation, process development and handling, right through to first production trials and launch. We have the creativity and capability to produce exceptional products beyond expectations.”

In October 2017, Bells Food Group invested £500,000 in a new bakery in Shotts, Lanarkshire. The business also launched a new website earlier this year.
