Dual-ovenable paperboard packaging introduced for ready meals

An all-in-one, dual-ovenable, paperboard packaging for the ready-meals and takeaway markets was launched by Colpac at the Packaging Innovations Show earlier this month.

The Cookpac range is designed to reduce unnecessary packaging, helping retailers and foodservice operators to meet sustainable objectives.

With Cookpac, ready meals can be taken from the fridge or freezer and put straight into the oven or microwave. For ease of handling during oven or microwave cooking, Cookpac has integrated heat-resistant handles and features a self-ventilating film, which releases slightly during the heating process to enable consumers to open the pack more easily.

The product is available in two designs: ‘same day’ and ‘heat-seal’. While the former is more suitable for fresh food to be consumed on the same day, the latter offers an extended shelf-life.

Through the heat-seal technology of Colpac’s food machinery range ColSeal, the aim is to retain the freshness of meals packed within the heat-seal Cookpac range.
