Aseptic geared motor coating will not contaminate

A new coating for aseptic geared motors that provides protection against chipping, flaking, scratching and corrosion, has been launched by SEW Eurodrive.

The XCO package is an alternative to stainless steel and is designed for use in industries where chipping or flaking paint on drive components poses a product contamination risk.

Called SEW’s eXtreme corrosion option, it features a tin-nickel surface coating that has the appearance of stainless steel. Due to its hardness, the surface is scratch-resistant and will not come off as a result of wear, flaking or chipping.

Targeted at industries where equipment may be subject to frequent wash-downs, it has been designed for use in food and drink manufacturing and is approved for short-term contact with food according to the regulation 1935/2004/EC.

Currently available with the XCO drive package are the R and RF series helical gear units up to 450Nm and the S, SF, SA, SAF, SH, SHF and ST series helical worm gear units up to 295Nm.

Additional gear unit types will be added shortly to extend options.
