Food manufacturers are being encouraged to sidestep the ongoing global vanilla crisis by investing in a vanilla flavour and extract that are both 100% natural.
With customers avoiding artificial flavourings, and vanilla prices surging ever higher due to bad weather in Madagascar (where 80% of the world’s vanilla supply is produced), Omega Ingredients said its 100% natural vanilla extract and flavour offered a “simple and economically advantageous solution” to manufacturers.
In 2017, vanilla pod prices rocketed to more than $600, making it the world’s second-most expensive spice.
