Animal feed firm wins Factory of the Future award

Nuscience’s factory at Ghent in Belgium, which makes animal feed premixes, has been named ‘Factory of the Future 4.0’, a prize awarded to firms that rise to the challenges of the ‘fourth industrial revolution’.

The plant was commissioned at the end of 2015 to replace the facilities at Baasrode and Drongen in Belgium. Almost all of the production capacity of 10,000t/month at the factory is achieved using 11 Dinnissen Pegasus mixers with a variety of specifications (see picture above).

“We are constantly looking for opportunities to lower costs, improve product quality even further, while simultaneously increasing the efficiency and flexibility of production,” says Nuscience Group’s chief operating officer Chris Mercier.

“We were unable to optimise further in the two old plants, particularly owing to the constraints of the buildings and layout of the factories. This investment significantly reduces our operating costs.”

The Nuscience plant works with 350 different raw materials and more than 2,000 recipes.
