New protein nuggets come with a crunch

Three new varieties of a 90% protein nugget for snacks, cereals and nutrition bars are now available.

The Supro nuggets, made by DuPont, each come with a different shape, size and texture.

Supro Nuggets 580 is an oval-shaped nugget with a firmer texture that is said to deliver a crunchier texture and better piece integrity during processing, resulting in more appealing bars and snacks.

Supro Nuggets 583 has an unstructured shape, making it more visually appealing in clustered cereals, yogurt topping, muesli and bars.

Round-shaped nugget

Supro Nuggets 585, meanwhile, is a larger round-shaped nugget that is claimed to offer a crunchy texture, suitable for novel snack formats, nutrition bars and cereals.

They join the Supro Nuggets 570, a crispy textured nugget with a barrel shape.

“Consumers want products with simple ingredient statements and high protein,” said Jean Heggie, strategic marketing lead at DuPont’s Solutions division.
