Former chief executive of Quality Meat Scotland Uel Morton is to join red meat processor Scotbeef as development director.

Morton headed up Quality Meat Scotland for 11 years before announcing his retirement from the role earlier this year. He takes up his new position at Scotbeef in August.

Morton said: "I am really looking forward to this new challenge; the red meat industry is hugely dynamic and I relish the opportunity to make a contribution to Scotland's leading red meat processor."

Robbie Galloway, CEO of Scotbeef, said: "Uel brings a unique skill set to Scotbeef that will enable us not only to develop our opportunities, but also help us navigate some of the challenges our industry is going to face in the years ahead."
